- you close all other applications that may be accessing your modem
- drivers or network.

- IMPORTANT: For ISDN via Ethernet, DSL, cable modem, you need to
- verify that these devices can connect to your computer through
- Ethernet. DirecPC users, please see the Section 5, entitled
- "Known Issues".

- 5. KNOWN ISSUES

- The following are known issues with this version of Sygate Personal
- Firewall 4.2. They will be addressed or fixed in later versions of

- There is a timeout discrepancy between the DirecPC and the Sygate
- Personal Firewall services. Users who utilize DirecPC should do the
- following to insure smooth operation -

- 1. After installing Sygate Personal Firewall, open DirecPC.

- 2. When the Sygate Personal Firewall pop-up message asks if you wish
- to allow DirecPC access to your network, place a check in the
- "Remember my answer and don't ask me again for this application"
- check box and click "Yes".

- 3. Close DirecPC and open again.

- In order to use Active Directory with Sygate Personal Firewall 4.2
- you will have to set the Windows 2000 Server as a trusted IP.

- Sygate Personal Firewall 4.2 will block terminal services on systems
- using a Windows 2000 server. To fix this you can use the Advanced Rules
- and create a rule to allow that port.

- Windows 2000 servers running Norton Anti-Virus software should
- upgrade to service pack 1 before installing Sygate Personal Firewall
- 4.2.

- Your computer may experience performance degradation after installing
- Sygate Personal Firewall 4.2 if you are using PC-Cillin. To fix this
- uninstall PC-Cillin.

- In order receive messages, in Winpopup while Sygate Personal Firewall is
- running, you must enable "Allow others to share my files" from the Options
- menu.

- In some cases after uninstalling BearShare and then installing Sygate
- Personal Firewall you may not be able to access the internet. In this case
- uninstall Sygate Personal Firewall reboot. Then install BearShare again and
- reboot. And then try reinstalling Sygate Personal Firewall.

- a dialup connection on Windows 98se. And Sygate Personal Firewall
- will block your ICS clients if you are using Windows ME, 2000 or XP.

- When using AOL dial up, sometimes AOL may use another Dialup adapter
- (and not the AOL adapter) to access the Internet, if this happens Sygate
- Personal Firewall may cause a memory leak about 80K/min.
